In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of studies published in medical databases regarding Tualang honey's potential health benefits. The following indicates some of the research and tests done on its benefits:

Antibacterial Activity
Tualang honey has both bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties against a range of bacteria. The antimicrobial effects of honey are due to the presence of non peroxidase substances. In general, the effectiveness of Tualang honey against several bacterial strains are comparable to Manuka honey.

Antidiabetic Activity
Though honey is high in sugar, its high fructose has low glycaemic index; and some honeys, including Tualang honey, hold a positive role in regulating the blood glucose level, it therefore has been recommended for diabetes. However, one must be aware that regular high consumption of honey may lead to hepatic and extrahepatic insulin resistance.

Antioxidant Activity
Based on studies on the antioxidant properties of Tualang honey of Malaysia, due to its high content of phenolic acids and flavonoids, it has greater free radical scavenging activity than other local and commercially marketed honeys. Such free radical scavenging activity provide an effective antioxidant activity.

Antitumor/cancer Activity
Tualang honey has antitumor activity against various types of cancer cells. An article from Hospital das Clinicas da FMUSP also indicate that Tualang honey " exerts anti-proliferative activities against breast cancer tissue, attenuating tumor growth". It also "reduces photo-carcinogenesis secondary to ultraviolet B radiation exposure".

Osteoporosis Medications
Post-menopausal women are more prone to osteoporosis. Despite the effective treatment of ERT(Estrogen Replacement Therapy) for post-menopausal osteoporosis, many adverse effects can occur. With Tualang honey's high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect, it can be used as an alternative treatment with minimal side effects. Tualang honey treatment will result in reduction of osteoclastogenic activity, but survival of osteoblasts, and consequently reduce bone loss.

A study at the Hospital das Clinicas da FMUSP concluded that Tualang honey built trabecular bone(the inner bone that is crucial for having strong bones) in laboratory animal better than supplemental calcium.
